I'm in Ohio!

2. Your current teaching position
I am not currently teaching - just graduated! But, I'm applying in multiple districts for sub positions so hopefully I'll hear back soon!

3. Your teaching experience
My teaching experience is limited to the student teaching I had - preschool, kindergarten, and 2nd grade.

4. When you started blogging
I started blogging in June of this year.

5. Share a blogging tip/blogging resource
A blogging tip that I have is to comment if you see something that intrigues you/interests you! Everyone loves receiving comments, and loves talking and getting to know other bloggers by responding to your comments! This is also how you make great bloggy friends.

On another note (again) - I went to see The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel yesterday with my Nana - AMAZING movie. Makes you stop and appreciate your own life, as well as the lives of others. Definitely one to check out if you're ready for a good laugh and a cry! :)

help! newbie questions :)

As a new blogger and being new to the teaching field... I have two questions that I'm going to ask you all, as many of you are experienced teachers and/or bloggers! So, here it goes!

1.) What are some professional development books you suggest I get familiar with? I keep seeing a lot about Daily 5 and CAFE and Whole Brain Teaching... but I don't know any titles!

2.) How do you all find out about these awesome conferences? I've been to several in my home state (Ohio) - but I want to expand and go to as many different things as I can so I have plenty of resources at my hands. I saw a lot about I Teach K conference, but how do you find out about these conferences?!

I'm going to apologize now for the long post, but I wanted to go ahead and participate in these two amazing linky parties while I have the time to do so! :)

I think this is such a cute linky party! I love being able to divulge what my guilty pleasures are... and not feel guilty about it!

1.) White chocolate Reese's. Oh my gosh, this is my most FAVORITEST candy in the entire world (no, that's not a word.. but in this case, it is!). I love white chocolate more than I do regular chocolate, but I especially love it when you add it to peanut butter!

 

2.) Army Wives, Pretty Little Liars, Switched at Birth, and Bunheads. These are my four shows that you will NEVER see me miss (unless I absolutely have to). They are the four shows that I could sit and watch for days without getting tired of them. Must be the drama :)

3.) My iPhone, iPad, and Mac. They are ALL connected at my hip. I hate being anywhere without them... especially that iPhone. It's my lifeline! :)

4.) The beach. I could go to the beach each and every day if I lived near one.. sadly, I live in Ohio so I'm nowhere near a beach! But, I love the ocean. I think my sister and I were born as water babies... just sayin'.

5.) Pinterest. Who DOESN'T love Pinterest? I have gotten so many different ideas from Pinterest for my classroom, my house, my wedding (a girl can dream.. can't she?), my pets, and so much more. I'm addicted and I'm proud to say that I am! :) (click the picture above to go visit my pinterest!)

6.) Blogging! Cliche, I know, but it's become one of my biggest hobbies beyond what I usually do. I love reading what other people have to say, commenting on their accomplishments, meeting new people, and checking out all the various resources that are out there! This is a 411 linky about myself! There are quite a few questions, but feel free to read! Just another way for you all in bloggyland get to know the real Miss V! :)

1. How long have you been blogging? And what got you started on blogging? Has your blog changed?
I've been blogging for a little over a month. I got started on blogging because I've always wanted to get connected to other people in a way that was simple. My boyfriend's sister (Moe) got me started on blogging, and it just evolved from there! My blog really hasn't changed from the beginning... I don't think anyway!

2. Did you go to college? If so where, and what did you study?
I did go to college! I actually just graduated in June of this year from the University of Cincinnati. I studied Early Childhood Education, along with Sign Language and Child Abuse courses, ALONG with getting a 4th and 5th grade endorsement! I was a busy girl... BEARCAT FOR LIFE <3

3. Where have you traveled?
A better question would be... where HAVEN'T I traveled? I was fortunate enough to be able to go LOTS of different places around the United States with my family as I grew up. We've been to New Jersey (often), North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Arizona, California, Minnesota, Kentucky, Tennessee, and various other places! I've also had the privilege (with boyfriend being in the Coast Guard) to visit Alabama! A state I thought I'd never step foot in... but I actually drove the entire state from top to bottom - lonnnng drive!

4. If you won the lottery, what would be the first thing you would buy?
If I won the lottery, I think the first thing I would buy would be another degree from college. I'd love to go back and get a degree in business so I could open up a bakery/pastry shop! Although I haven't baked much, I absolutely LOVE the smells, the look, and the taste of sweets. I could eat sweets the rest of my life... all day long :)

5. What are your 3 biggest pet peeves?
1-When people use "your" instead of "you're" and vice versa (same with their, there, they're)
2-Telling me you will do something and then you do not
3-When people talk down the field of education.

6. What is your favorite movie?
My favorite movie... I can't choose! The absolute first one that comes to mind if I have to give an answer is Dear John. Or anything with Channing Tatum, for that matter :)

7. What is your drink of choice; wine, beer, or liquor. Or Water, Soda, Tea?
My drink of choice is typically milk, water, or lemonade - whichever is available at that moment (weird combo), but on occasion, a margarita.

8. What is something you enjoy to do when you have me time?
I love to craft! Anything for my classroom, home, etc.

9. If you could have a $10,000 shopping spree to one store, which store would it be?
If I had $10,000 to go to one store, it would have to be New York & Company. I love their clothes and the quality of them. They're also pretty fashionable if I do say so myself.

10. Share with us an embarrassing moment of your past? Or present.
The first thing that comes to mind was when I was in 7th grade. I was on my "first date" with my new boyfriend and my 4 best friends and their boyfriends (it was cool... duh.). We were at the movie theaters seeing a movie that I can't recall, and I really had to go to the bathroom. I made my friend Megan come with me, and on my way out, I tripped, BIG TIME. Did I mention that the movie theater was COMPLETELY full of people? Now whether or not anyone saw me face plant, I'm not sure, but I was SO embarrassed and ran out of there. Did my new boyfriend see? Of course he did. And so did everyone else I was with. Oh the joys of being young...

11. If your life was turned into a movie... what actor would play you?
If my life was turned into a movie, I would love to have Rachel McAdams play me! She is absolutely gorgeous and seems to be such a genuine person, like me ;)

12. What are the jobs you had in high school/college/the early years?
The jobs I had in high school were a babysitter, working at the movie theater concession stand, and a waitress at Bob Evans Restaurant. Granted, I'm not much older than college years, but those are the jobs I had!

13. Show us a picture from high school or college.

May 2009, Freshman year in college at my boyfriend's Senior Year (High School) Prom. Man, we're cute! :)

14. If you could travel anywhere in the world, all expenses paid, where would you go?
Italy. I'm Italian and I've always been interested in the culture of Italians, so why not go to Italy to experience it? I love the food, architecture, style, and everything else involved with Italians, and I've heard it's absolutely breathtaking there! 

15. Show us the most current picture of you or you, or your family, or anything of meaning to you.

Momma & I on our cruise in the Bahamas. This was formal dinner night :)

16. Where do you see your life 5 years from now?
In five years, I see myself in the teaching field with a classroom of my own. I'll also be married by that time (wink wink, Cody!), and maybe have a child (eeeek!). I also hope to have evolved in my blogging journey!

inspiration & giveaway update

This week will be dull with posts. I'm having a lot of ups and downs this week with moving home, having interviews, appointments galore, finishing/starting work for my courses I'm taking this summer, and I TAKE ANOTHER PRAXIS TEST ON SATURDAY (I haven't studied...shhh)! So, I'll be back with some great posts next week!
