Featuring Ang from Juggling Act Mama

Hi guys! I'm not kidding... I said it yesterday and I'll say it today - I have THE BEST guest bloggers. They are fantastic. Today, I've got Ang who blogs over at Juggling Act Mama. She's provided another recipe for us to enjoy and man, is this one a goodie! Check it out below :)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello,  I'm Ang and I blog over at Juggling Act Mama and love sharing recipes, DIY projects, and fun activities for the kiddos.  I'm married to my high school sweetheart and we both work full time outside the home.  We have two children, Ethan, 4-1/2, and Olivia, 19-months. I hope you'll come visit me to check out some of my favorite posts, like DIY Gardener's Scrub, Popsicle Stick Puzzles or enter my latest Giveaway
Today, I'm going to share with you a a recipe for Homemade Baked Donuts.   I'm not the world's best baker by any means, but I adore sweets and making tasty treats for my family and friends. Last summer, I bought myself a donut pan. Best. Idea. Ever. I love making healthy muffin recipes like Carrot or Blueberry, pouring them into the donut pan and then watching my family gobble them up.  Yes, I'm a sneaky mama, but it works! That said, sometimes I just crave a little something sweet and sinful.... enter the true donut - one full of sugar and covered in chocolate or coconut or cinnamon sugar or - well, you get the idea.  So here's how I've doctored up an old family recipe to make it a bit healthier.
Homemade Baked Donuts Ingredients: 2 cups all-purpose flour 1 cup all-purpose flour 1 cup of whole wheat flour 1 cup sugar 3/4 cup sugar 2 teaspoons baking powder 1 teaspoon salt 3/4 cup whole skim milk 2 eggs, beaten 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 tablespoon shortening 1 tablespoon of applesauce Directions: Start by preheating your oven to 325-degrees.  In a large bowl, combine flours, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Mix the ingredients well. Add in the ggs, vanilla, milk, and applesauce and stir until all ingredients are incorporated.
Spray your donut pan lightly with cooking spray. Fill each ring about 3/4 of the way full - trust me and take care not to overfill these!  Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until donuts are cooked completely.
Remove the donuts from the oven and let them rest for a couple minutes before removing them from the pan to a cooling rack.
Leave the donuts in the pan for a few minutes, then move them to a cooling rack to cool completely.
Dip each donut into a simple warm confectioner's sugar glaze, or add a bit of cocoa powder to make a chocolate glaze.  Top with sprinkles, coconut or even mini chocolate chips and allow to set for about 30 minutes - that is, if you can keep your family at bay that long!
I hope you will give these a try, and come visit me to check out more of my recipes!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well... I wish I was having those for dinner instead of my grilled cheese but hey, maybe breakfast tomorrow?! What a delicious (and basically healthy) recipe! Make sure you're following Ang for all her amazing recipes, her DIY projects, and everything else this fantastic woman does! You won't regret it :)

Featuring Jaime from Mom's Test Kitchen

Hi y'all! First of all, I want to say I have THE best guest bloggers... just sayin'. I've got another guest blogger today and her name is Jaime! She blogs over at Mom's Test Kitchen and she's got THE cutest little girl. So, Jamie asked what she should blog about and I told her ANYTHING. I'm really happy she chose this because it's perfect for us teachers :) read on to see what I'm talking about! :)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hey y'all!  I'm so excited to be here at Miss V's Busy Bees sharing a fun activity I did with my little Princess P!  Well first I guess I should introduce myself!  I'm Jaime, the wife & momma behind Mom's Test Kitchen, my little space in the blogosphere where I share the recipes I make for my family.  I also sometimes like to branch outside of my kitchen and share the fun little educational activities that I do with my daughter who is two.

Princess P is really into her ABC's right now!  She loves walking around singing the Alphabet Song!  And then once she finishes, she'll look at me and say 'do it again mommy, do it again!'  And she'll start right back over!  So I've been looking for fun ways to continue to teach her the letters & to introduce simple words that start with each letter.  This was a fun activity we did for the letter D!

D IS FOR DOOR
Print Friendly and PDF

SUPPLIES:
  • 2 sheets of construction paper, 1 white, 1 any other color
  • crayons
  • 1 sticker ~ an uppercase letter D or a picture of something that begins with D
  • scissors
  • marker
  • glue

LET'S CREATE:
  1. Start by writing a lowercase d with the marker on the white piece of construction paper.
  2. Have your little one color the d
  3. Cut out the d. You also want to cut out the round portion of the inner circle but do not cut the straight line. Fold the circle carefully back to make your 'door'
  4. Glue the lowercase d to the second piece of construction paper ~ be sure not to glue down any part of the inner circle, that needs to stay an open flap.
  5. Add your sticker to the second piece of paper inside the circle of the lower case d. I used a capital D sticker to help with the letter recognition between uppercase & lowercase letters.
ACTIVITY INSPIRED BY: No Time For Flash Cards

If you like this activity, I hope you'll stop by & check out some of the other fun things Princess P & I have done!  You can also stay up to date on my newest recipes by joining any of my social network communities!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

What a freakin' adorable activity to do with your kiddos! Jaime has a whole slew of activities, recipes, and things about her life on her blog. Do yourself a favor & go check her out - you will NOT regret it!

Jaime - thank you for guest blogging today! I'm really happy to have been able to feature you on my blog. I appreciate you sharing your creativity with my readers & I! :)

Have a good day, y'all!

I Made it For You {handmade craft swap}

The Life of an “Ordinary” Housewife

Guess what, I participated in ANOTHER swap! This swap was just as good as all my others. I was paired with the ever so sweet Cheryl, who blogs at Spotted Around the School. She's probably the sweetest, most kind-hearted person I have ever met in my life!

Danielle from The Life of an "Ordinary" Wife and Libby from It's Never Too Late... Although I'm Always Late! partnered up to bring us the handmade craft swap. So I decided to make a few things for Cheryl.

But, I forgot to take pictures, so if you want to see them, head to her blog!
But what I made... yeah. It didn't outshine what SHE made for ME. OH. MY. GOSH. I am in love with what she made for me! I told her my favorite things were Fall and the ocean/beach. So, what did she do? Made something in both categories!

First, she made this adorable fall hanging decoration that I could use during the Halloween season. It says, "FAITH - FAMILY - FRIENDS" and has a little crow at the top. Did I mention, she wrote on and painted AND decorated each of the things ON HER OWN? Uh, creativity!!

But that's not it.. she also sent me a jar filled with sand from Isle of Palms in South Carolina. Inside that jar was a baggie of shells. Now, if you know me, no matter what beach I go to, I HAVE to find shells. I'm obsessed with shells. So anyways, not only did she include sand and shells, she painted on the sides of the glass, "SAND... SUN... FUN!" How cute is she?!

Cheryl, thank you SO much. You were a perfect swap partner and are so kind, caring, and sweet! I absolutely love what you made for me and cannot wait to move to put them up! I think the hanging decoration is going to go on our front door while the jar will go in my bathroom as decoration :) I cannot wait!

Again, if you have the chance to participate in a swap, DO IT. You will not regret it one bit!

Have a great day, y'all!

Ohio Blogger Meet Up - Post Meeting!

Today, we had such a great Ohio Blogger Meet Up in Columbus, Ohio! I absolutely LOVED meeting the women that showed up and I am so happy to be able to call myself an Ohio blogger.

curiousfirsties.blogspot.com

In the picture, you see Emily on the far left and Maria on the far right. These two gals blog over at Curious Firsties. They are both first grade teachers that are probably two of the SWEETEST women I have ever met. In their school, the students switch classes, so Maria is the writing teacher while Emily is the Title teacher. They both are amazing women, so I suggest you get to know them!

RainbowsWithinReach

Next, you've got Debbie. She blogs over at Rainbows Within Reach. She's known as the "music lady" as she has written quite a few songs and written a few books. Debbie travels the country and is absolutely an amazing woman, as well. Make sure you get to know her, too!

After Debbie, you've got Kelly. Kelly doesn't full-out blog, but rather, she blogs for her families! Kelly is an amazing woman that teaches Kindergarten in Columbus. She has 30 students (WOW) and still manages to find time for herself. She's one sweet woman and when she gets a blog, believe me, I'll be sure to let you all know :)

A Pirate's Life For Us

Last but not least, we've got Jenn. She blogs over at A Pirate's Life for Us! I've been following Jenn for a while and I absolutely LOVE her. She teaches first grade, as well, but up North in Sandusky! She just recently finished her administrator certificate (I believe) so now she's hoping to explore that avenue sometime or another, but I love her as a teacher nonetheless! She's got so many ideas and is such a sweet, sweet woman. She's another you-should-probably-be-following-her bloggers, so I suggest ya get on over there and follow!

We had such good conversation and I walked away with much more information and things to think about than I thought I ever would! These women were great company and are even better bloggers. THANK YOU, ladies, for coming out and making the meet-up a success. We were small, but we were mighty :)

Make sure if you have the opportunity to attend a meet-up, GO. You will not regret it and you will have the opportunity to meet some of the people that you cherish from the blog world in real life! You will also walk away with some connections that you never thought you'd have, as each of these women now have a place in my life!

Cannot wait to attend another meet-up. I had such a blast and would do it again in a heartbeat!

Have a good day, y'all!
