Hi, I'm Sara! I'm a 23 year old graduate of the University of Cincinnati! I received my Bachelor of Science in Education, as well as two certificates in Deaf Studies and Child Abuse Recognition. I also finished an endorsement to add 4th and 5th grade to my current license, PreK-3.
I graduated from Bowling Green State University with my Master's program in Classroom Technology as of December 2013! I am so excited.
I grew up in Dayton, Ohio and had lived in the same house for 22 years, until November of 2012. I now reside in Mobile, Alabama, with the love of my life, Cody. I do miss my little town and all that comes with it, but I'm ready for bigger things!
Our little house
My favorite things to do are read, shop, watch TV, and craft (scrapbook). I love reading love stories and old time novels about World War II. Basically, a love story like The Notebook or The Last Song (both by Nicholas Sparks). I shop mostly at stores that aren't good for me such as Target, Hobby Lobby, and Michaels. I spend too much money, but I love browsing through the stores nonetheless. I have several TV shows that I watch. I watch Walking Dead, Pretty Little Liars, Switched at Birth, Grey's Anatomy, Blacklist, Chicago Fire, and Chicago PD. As for crafts, I do anything from scrapbooking to making picture frames to making pottery. I love crafting and hope that as my time frees up, I can start crafting even more!
I have an extremely high love for animals. I would save every animal in the world if I could. I adore elephants and turtles, as they are my favorite animals. I do have a cat, whose name is Socks. He's a wild child, and I believe he was reincarnated from previously being a dog. He plays fetch, plays hide and seek, and sleeps all day unless he wants to bother you.
Then there's baby Tucker. He's currently (as of March 2014) a 1 1/2 year old English Bulldog. He's a little terror, but he's my baby boy. He's still learning how to be a puppy, but he's so dang cute. If I'm in the kitchen with him or outside, you can find him sitting between my feet or by my side.

Finally, we've got little Miss Lexie Lou Lou. She's our stray we picked up on May 17th, 2013. She was sitting alongside the side of the road just hangin' out. Something tugged me and said pull over and man, am I glad we did! She's been through heck and back, but she's found her forever home (as long as she stops digging to China out back...).

This is how my sister and I are in a nutshell
This is my daddy. He passed away in January 2010. I miss him more than the world itself, but I know he's watching down on me!
This is a picture of my husband, Cody, and I. We have been dating for a little over 6 1/2 years, but we officially got married on April 25th, 2014. We met in high school at a football game and have been in love ever since (aww <3). He's in the Coast Guard and is currently stationed in Mobile, Alabama, and I could not be happier for him. I am one proud military wife and I wouldn't have it any other way.
So, that's me! I'm always willing to talk and meet new people, so don't be shy!

ReplyDeleteYou mentioned on one of your recent posts the party puff jar that they fill from getting "compliments". Are these compliments from a PBIS system from your school? We recently started implementing this and our school has shown amazing growth. Just wanted to pick your brain for other cute ideas if you also use PBIS (positive behavior). Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHey Rachel!
DeleteI tried to respond to you via e-mail, but your profile is set up to be a "no-reply" blogger. So, hopefully you see this! The school I'm currently in does not do a PBIS system. I chose to do the party puff jar out of my own ideas. I knew whole class rewards could sometimes be rewarding AND the positive thoughts/actions could help students in the long run, as well. So, I started doing it on my own independent of the school. I do have to say that my kiddos ADORE the Party Puff Jar. They were always wondering when we'd get a puff and were always behaving outside of the classroom JUST in case they got a puff!
Thanks for coming by :)

Hi Sara. I couldn't find an email address here or on Instagram, but I spotted something on another blog that I thought might be of interest to you as a teacher: Flat Aggie - basically, a farm-based version of Flat Stanley. The URL to the relevant blogpost is http://talesofakansasfarmmom.blogspot.com.au/2015/08/say-hello-to-new-flat-aggie.html. Hope things are going well!
