longest day EVER... 200 follower giveaway!

OH. MY. GOSH. Today has seemed to last FOREVER. Why is this?? I'm glad you asked!

First - I woke up to go to an interview/appointment at my hometown district for a sub position. I was told that even though I have a 4 year teaching license (brand new, might I add), I must also apply for a substitute license - any idea why, teacher friends? Because I honestly am very confused! Got a phone call today saying I didn't have to apply for a sub license, but that I'd have to attend a few training sessions on the new program they are using (AESOP) to call subs!

Second - we had a huge storm blow through about 11:00 AM this morning. At 11:30 AM, our power went out. I expected only an hour of it being out... NO. It was out for almost 8 hours - until 7:20 PM! It was unbelievable - and I realized that I'm incredibly spoiled and depend wayyy too much on power - lights, Internet, cable, all of it. So, I went to the library and spent my time there for a bit instead of spending money - BIG deal for me!

Third (and worst) - Socks (my cat aka my child) was injured yesterday and couldn't lift his tail. My momma told me he'd be fine, but once she saw him, she thought something was wrong, too. So, today I made an appointment for him to go to the vet to get his updated shots, but instead he got an antibiotic shot and an anti-inflammatory shot, too! Why, you ask? Well, he got bit on the butt! I have no idea by what, but you can literally see the teeth marks on his tail end. The vet also shaved his lower part of his back just above his tail to see if there really were wounds - there were. He's also really swollen, aka he can't lift his tail or anything, and he lays down really weirdly, and ends up looking funny! My poor baby... hopefully these meds helped him a bit!

On our way to the vet - excuse the way I look!

After he was shaved on the tail end.. poor baby.

That's my day - might not seem long to you, but I feel like it has draaaaaaaaaaagged on all day long.

GIVEAWAYS

Rather than put the giveaway pictures on my blog, I've added a page where you can click on the pictures and be linked to current giveaways. I'll attempt to update this every time I come across a new giveaway, BUT don't hold me to it! All of these bloggers are offering amazing prizes to giveaway and all have great resources listed on their blogs. You'd be silly not to follow them all :)

MY GIVEAWAY

My giveaway started yesterday! I am so happy with all of the advice I've been given and I am totally taking notes on each response in a document on my computer called "Advice for Newbies." :) I truly appreciate all the advice, and would love it if you kept it coming!! Have a good night, y'all! :)

  1. So sorry about your day! What all does a sub license involve? Don't forget to check out your local charter schools and private schools. My first job was at a Montessori school and my experience there definitely helped me to get my first public school job. Hope your cat heals up soon!!

    1. Hi Kate!

Another $25.00, but I guess I'll be certified to sub in grades PreK-12 - who knows though! I'm looking for all these subbing positions, so that's a great idea :) You always know how to cheer me up!!

    2. Ok, that's not too bad, but I can definitely understand why it's frustrating! Have you ever checked the Ohio teaching jobs listserv? I used it often! http://listserv.nwoca.org/cgi/wa.exe?A0=JOBS-L

  2. The substitute certification is just another way for your state to get more money. You're lucky it's only $25.00. In New York State, it's $100 for each certificate on your license. You can imagine how much that can add up quickly. That's so sad about Socks too! I'm glad you took him to the vet and I'm sure he will be up and at 'em in no time!
